Kindle Touch 3G is the top-of-the-line e-reader with free 3G wireless – no monthly fee or annual contract to download content

Kindle Store at Amazon.co.uk now has over 1 million books with the most best-sellers and the best prices

Luxembourg - March 28th, 2012: Kindle has been the best-selling product at Amazon.co.uk since its introduction in 2010 and millions of UK customers are already enjoying reading on Kindle. Today, Amazon.co.uk announced Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G are now available for pre-order to readers across the UK. Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G are the newest addition to the Kindle family available in the UK and feature everything readers already love about Kindle, plus a new easy-to-use touch screen that makes it easier than ever to turn pages, search, shop, and take notes. Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G both feature the most advanced electronic ink display which reads like real paper, even in bright sunlight, with no glare.

Kindle Touch is available for £109 and Kindle Touch 3G with free 3G wireless for £169. Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G are available to pre-order at www.amazon.co.uk/kindletouch and www.amazon.co.uk/kindletouch3G.

"UK customers have been asking us to make Kindle Touch available on Amazon.co.uk and we are excited to do so today," said Jorrit Van der Meulen, Vice President, Kindle, Amazon EU Sàrl. "Customers continue to choose Kindle because they love the world-class reading experience, the vast selection of Kindle books available at great prices, and the convenience of downloading their books in just 60 seconds. We continue to see that people read more with Kindle—readers in the UK buy an average of 4 times the number of books they purchased prior to owning a Kindle. With the launch of Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G we expect to see this reading renaissance continue."

Kindle Touch is a new addition to the Kindle family in the UK with an easy-to-use touch screen. With Amazon's exclusive EasyReach touch technology there's no need to swipe, you simply tap to turn pages, eliminating fatigue and allowing you to comfortably hold your Kindle in either hand. It's small, light and eliminates battery anxiety with an extra-long battery life of up to two months. Kindle Touch has built-in Wi-Fi, audio support and carries up to 3,000 books. Kindle Touch is available to pre-order now at www.amazon.co.uk/kindletouch for only £109.

Kindle Touch 3G is another new member of the Kindle family in the UK for readers who want the top-of-the-line e-reader. Kindle Touch 3G offers the same design and features of Kindle Touch - small and light, easy-to-use touch screen, extra-long battery life and audio support - with the unparalleled added convenience of free 3G to download content. Kindle's free 3G connection means you never have to hunt for or pay for a Wi-Fi hotspot - you simply download and read books anytime, anywhere in over 100 countries around the world. Amazon pays for the 3G connection so there's no monthly fee or annual contract to download content. It also allows for fast, free updates of your newspaper, magazine and blog subscriptions anytime, anywhere. Kindle Touch 3G is available to pre-order now at www.amazon.co.uk/kindletouch3G for £169.

"X-Ray" Feature

Amazon invented X-Ray, a feature that lets customers explore the "bones of the book." With a single tap, readers can see all the passages across a book that mention ideas, fictional characters, historical figures, places or topics that interest them, as well as more detailed descriptions from Wikipedia and Shelfari, Amazon's community-powered encyclopedia for book lovers. Amazon built X-Ray using its expertise in language processing and machine learning, access to significant storage and computing resources with Amazon S3 and EC2, and a deep library of book and character information. The vision is to have every important phrase in every book.

The Kindle Store at Amazon.co.uk offers customers a vast selection of over one million books - including the most best-sellers in the UK - plus subscriptions to hundreds of popular newspapers, magazines and blogs. Customers will also find great prices. More than half a million Kindle books are £3.99 or less and there are regular promotions, including Kindle Daily Deal, which offers customers a deep discount on one popular e-book a day. In addition, over one million free books, including many of the classics, are also available to download.

Kindle books are "Buy Once, Read Everywhere" with free Kindle reading apps available for the most popular devices, including iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, PC , Mac and Android-based devices. With Amazon's popular recommendation technology and reviews from fellow customers built into Kindle devices and Kindle apps, Amazon.co.uk customers can search, discover and enjoy a huge range of books which can all be downloaded in less than 60 seconds.
