April 6, 2009: The Amazon.co.uk MP3 store has broken through the 5 million track mark, having added over 10,000 tracks a day to its catalogue since launch in December 2008. To celebrate, Amazon.co.uk is now offering a selection of over 100 top-selling MP3 tracks for just 29p per track.

‘Our aim is to always offer the lowest prices and the most comprehensive choice,’ said Julian Monaghan, Head of Music Buying at Amazon.co.uk. ‘Since our launch just four months ago, we have been presenting our customers with some great deals on MP3s whilst rapidly expanding our catalogue and we will continue to do so going forward.’

Amazon.co.uk has been offering chart topping MP3 albums for just £3 and individual tracks from as low as 59p. Now, more than 100 tracks in the MP3 store are priced at just 29p including Lady Gaga ‘Poker Face’, Flo Rida ‘Right Round’, Lily Allen ‘The Fear’ and The Prodigy ‘Omen’.

In order to ensure there is something for everyone, Amazon.co.uk is offering a number of bestselling tracks from all the major MP3 genre categories for just 29p per track - from pop to rock, classical to jazz and indie to hip-hop.

‘Customers have responded very positively to our competitive pricing. Offering MP3 albums for just £3 has resulted in strong sales of a number of titles, including must-have pop and rock albums by the likes of Take That and Kings of Leon, as well as less mainstream titles like 'The 99 Most Essential Pieces of Classical Music’,’ said Julian Monaghan. ‘We will continue to provide our customers the best possible value and offering tracks for just 29p is very much in keeping with our approach.’
