October 16, 2008, London: Amazon.co.uk is today cutting its Free Super Saver Delivery threshold - the amount customers need to spend with Amazon to qualify for free shipping - to just £5.

The reduction means that over 90% of products sold by Amazon – including many Christmas must-haves across all its categories – automatically qualify for free shipping. Previously, Amazon customers had to spend £15 for their order to qualify for free delivery.

“With Christmas fast approaching, it’s the perfect time to cut the free shipping threshold to £5,” said Brian McBride, Amazon’s UK Country Manager. He added: “This means that UK customers can get over 90% of what Amazon sells delivered for free”

The threshold reduction covers all Amazon stores – from Books to Jewellery and Watches and from Shoes to Home and Garden.

As well as Free Super Saver Delivery, Amazon offers customers a choice of delivery options, including the Prime membership programme, offering unlimited free One-Day delivery for an annual fee of £49
