Amazon.co.uk Announces Shopping App for iPhone and iPod touch now Available on App Store: Take a photo with iPhone and use the experimental Amazon Remembers feature to receive an instant product match from Amazon.co.uk

October 26, 2009: London – 26th October, 2009 – Amazon.co.uk today announced its Amazon App for iPhone and iPod touch is now available from the App Store. The app is the first dedicated mobile shopping app from Amazon in the UK and offers users a fast, convenient way to search, browse and buy from Amazon.co.uk and thousands of Marketplace sellers.

"Customers have been requesting an Amazon.co.uk shopping app for their iPhone and iPod touch and we are thrilled to introduce the Amazon App in time for Christmas," said Brian McBride, managing director of Amazon.co.uk Ltd. "Experience in the US tells us that the Amazon Remembers feature is proving very useful to customers because it remembers items of interest for them, helping to keep track of products and matching photos with items to buy on Amazon."

The Amazon App connects customers to their Amazon.co.uk account and favourite shopping features for on-the-spot purchases wherever they might be, including:
• Purchasing using Amazon’s 1-Click® ordering and Amazon Prime
• Tracking packages or modifying orders using the Your Account feature
• Receiving personalised recommendations
• Viewing editorial and customer reviews
• Accessing their Wish List

The Amazon Remembers feature uses the iPhone camera to find and remember items available for sale on Amazon.co.uk. Photos taken by the camera are automatically uploaded to Amazon.co.uk to then search for similar products. For many photos matches are instant, while some take just a few minutes. As soon as the customer receives the match results they can take advantage of all their favourite shopping features and either purchase the item immediately, remember it in their Amazon account, make price comparisons across Marketplace sellers or add it to their Wish List.

The Amazon App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/. Visit http://www.amazon.co.uk/iphoneapp for further information.
