Amazon Introduces Free Standard Delivery to Pickup Locations for All

25/08/2015

Free delivery now available to over 13,000 Pickup Locations across the UK

Locations include Amazon Lockers, Post Offices, convenience stores and newsagents

London – 25th August 2015 – Amazon today announced that all customers can now benefit from free Standard Delivery to any of its 13,000 UK Pickup Locations.

Amazon Pickup Locations include rail, tube and petrol stations, newsagents and convenience stores, universities, libraries, business parks, an airport and Post Office branches. They provide a simple, secure and convenient delivery option for customers on millions of items.

Free Standard Delivery is now available on products sold or fulfilled by Amazon. To be eligible for this service, an order will include £10 or more of books, or £20 or more of products from any Amazon store. Prime members already qualify for One-Day Delivery to any Amazon Pickup Location at no extra cost as part of their membership benefits. With free Standard Delivery, orders will arrive one to two days after dispatch.

"We are always trying to lower costs for our customers,” said John Tagawa, Vice President of Operations, Amazon UK. “For many people, collecting from an Amazon Pickup Location is the delivery option of choice. Our customers were telling us that free delivery to a Pickup Location would be a great value service and we agree.”

The number of Amazon Pickup Locations now stands at more than 13,000 – more than double the number a year ago. These include more than 300 Amazon Lockers.

Amazon customers can select a Pickup Location when they get to the checkout. As soon as the parcel reaches the Pickup Location they are sent a confirmation email with collection instructions.

Customers can also choose Same-Day collection from almost 700 local shops and garages through ‘Pass My Parcel’ – a collaboration with newspaper and magazine distributor Smiths News. Same-Day collection is also available at no cost to Prime members as part of their membership and £4.99 for non-Prime members.
